Some handy photo tips for getting the best results in low-light conditions
Improve your low-light photography skills with these simple tips
Shooting in dark conditions can be difficult and the results are often not what we’d like them to be, but remember the amount of light that can be ‘seen’ by your camera depends on many settings. Follow these quick tips for the best results…
01 Set your camera to a scene mode like ‘Night Portrait’ to enhance the in-camera settings for darker subjects and instantly produce better photos
02 Slow down the shutter speed or use a large aperture (a small f-number like f2.8) to let more light into the camera’s lens
03 Set the focus to a dark part of the scene, so the camera can adjust the exposure to suit
04 Increase the ISO to brighten the image. Don’t go too high or else the image will get ‘grainy’
05 A camera will struggle to autofocus when it’s too dark, so switch to manual focus instead
